Dear Leonor Hambly K8 Families,

First, thank you for the support you have provided to your children, their teachers, and our staff this school year. Although we have not seen many of you in person, we look forward to connecting virtually every week with your children. Online learning has provided a safe opportunity for school to continue during the COVID 19 pandemic but has not been without its own unique challenges. Through it all we could not have overcome the challenges we have faced without your support.

Last week in response to the Governor’s Executive Order, our Governing Board discussed and approved for Leonor Hambly K8 to offer families a 4-day school week online learning or 4-day school week in person learning. Our district has kept up with consistent review of research, data, and feedback from our state and county health departments, CDC guidelines, and staff and family input. We have planned for the transition of offering these two options according to the results of the survey we conducted with families to prepare our campus and classrooms for the expected number of on campus students. We feel confident that we can continue to offer a quality education to students whether you have chosen online or in person for the rest of the school year.

All Leonor Hambly K8 students online and in person will transition to a new schedule on Monday, March 15, 2021. School will begin at 8:00 and end at 3:05. If your child continues with online learning your child will continue to be instructed through synchronous and asynchronous learning by their grade level teacher. If you have chosen in person learning for your child after Spring Break, enclosed with this letter is an information sheet with specific information for you and your child. Also enclosed is the waiver release form that can be returned by mail, dropped off at the office, or brought to school with your child if they are attending school in person. Students who are continuing online do not need to return this form. You will also find the updated bus schedule. We ask that you arrive at the bus stop ten minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time for the first week of school to allow for arrival times at stops to be confirmed.

Again, on behalf of our school and staff we want to thank you and share that we are appreciative for your continued support of our school district. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Remember to check our district website at hwusd.org for information and updates. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns after reading the contents of this mailing.
